Etched salvaged fridge door, various inkjet printed photographs on paper, LED strip lights, Stagecoach moquette, Go North East moquette, Metro newspaper (Wednesday 8th July 2026), Stagecoach adult single (Monday 17th June 2024), Midland Bluebird adult single (Friday 13th February 2026), crayon rubbing, scratch card, post-it note, glitter, beer can tabs, metal brackets.
A series of geographical directions or a collection of field notes or even a list of celebratory toasts are faintly etched onto a glass fronted commercial fridge door, salvaged from the street. Each inscription acts as a dedication to an interruption of the apparent seamlessness of public space. Behind the glass, hundreds of images depicting these ruptures are stashed alongside travel tickets, scratch cards, chewing gum, newspaper, sketches and litter.
The work itself is contingent, being subject to reassembly each time it is installed. It forms an accumulating archive of spatial glitches: overlooked moments of collapse, humour and unauthorised practices that reveal public space as equally contingent, as something unfixed, as something we might have agency to negotiate.
